Two-letter and three-letter words like QI, ZA, OX, and JO are essential Scrabble weapons. Memorize the full list of valid 2-letter words — there are 101 of them in the official dictionary.
An ideal Scrabble rack has 2–3 vowels. Too many vowels (like AAEIOU) limits your options dramatically. Exchange tiles early if your rack is unbalanced rather than making a weak play.
Adding S, ED, ING, ER, EST, UN-, RE-, or PRE- to existing board words (hooking) is one of the most powerful strategies in Scrabble.
Always aim to place high-value letters (Q, Z, X, J) on Double Letter or Triple Letter score squares. A QI on a triple letter score earns 30 points from just two letters!
Begin Wordle with words that cover common letters: CRANE, SLATE, or RAISE are statistically excellent openers. Eliminate as many letters as possible in your first two guesses.
The letters S, E, R, and blank tiles are the most flexible in any word game. Don't waste them on low-scoring plays — save them for setting up bigger, higher-scoring moves.
A word finder is a web-based application that acts as a helper or solver for word-based games and puzzles. Whether you're playing Scrabble on a Friday night, competing in Words With Friends on your commute, or agonizing over today's Wordle, a word finder tool gives you instant access to every valid word possible from your available letters.
Our word finder works by taking the letters you input and cross-referencing them against a comprehensive English dictionary. Within milliseconds, the algorithm identifies every valid word that can be formed using some or all of your letters — then sorts the results by Scrabble score so the highest-value plays appear first.
Word finders are used by a diverse range of people:
A word finder finds all words that can be made from a subset of your letters — you don't need to use every letter. A word unscrambler finds words using all or most of your scrambled letters. Our tool does both: the main finder uses any combination of your letters, while the dedicated Unscramble tool focuses on using as many of your letters as possible.
Both are invaluable for different scenarios. Use the word finder when you have a full Scrabble rack and want maximum options. Use the unscrambler when you're given a specific set of scrambled letters and need to identify the intended word.
A word finder is an online tool that helps you discover all possible words from a given set of letters. It's commonly used as a helper or cheat tool for word games such as Scrabble, Words With Friends, Wordle, and crossword puzzles. Simply enter your available letters and the tool instantly searches its dictionary to return every valid word you can form.
Type ? or * in your letter input to represent a blank tile. These wildcards can stand in for any letter of the alphabet, just like blank tiles in Scrabble. For example, entering QUEST? will find words that use those five letters plus any additional letter represented by the wildcard.
Our word finder uses a curated dictionary of over 80,000 English words, drawn from a comprehensive source covering standard Scrabble-valid words and common English vocabulary. The dictionary includes words from 2 to 12 letters in length and is regularly checked for accuracy.
Yes, WordFinder is completely free to use with no registration required. You can use all tools — the word finder, unscrambler, pattern matcher, word validator, and more — without creating an account or paying anything.
WordFinder is intended as an educational and vocabulary-building tool. Many people use it to learn new words, improve their game strategy, and expand their vocabulary. Absolutely. WordFinder is fully responsive and works seamlessly on smartphones, tablets, and desktop computers. The interface adapts to any screen size so you can use it conveniently while playing word games on your phone.
Each word is scored using standard Scrabble letter values: common letters like E, A, I, O, N, R, S, T, L, U are worth 1 point each, while rare letters like Q and Z are worth 10 points each. The score shown next to each word is the base tile score — your actual game score may be higher depending on premium squares on the board.
